The extension follows a government decision to add five years to the upper-age limit for candidates across all categories. The related government order is dated 30.10.2026.

Important dates and exam details

The recruitment notification was published on 06.10.2026. Candidates will get a correction facility from November 9 through November 11, 2026.

The written examination is scheduled for January 10, 2027. It will take place in one shift, from 9.30 am to 12.30 pm. The paper will contain 200 questions for 300 marks, with a duration of 3 hours.

How many vacancies are available

The recruitment process covers 6574 posts. TNPSC will conduct it through a single-stage written examination.

The ranking list will be prepared using the marks obtained in the written paper. Admission to the examination will be based on the details and claims entered in the online application.
