How to reduce PDF size for online forms

  1. 1

    Upload the PDF

Pick the certificate, marksheet, resume or form you need to upload. It stays on your phone or computer.

  2. 2

    Choose the size limit

Select 100 KB, 200 KB, 500 KB or 1 MB, or type the exact limit from the form.

  3. 3

    Pick compression

Standard keeps text selectable. High is for scanned pages and reaches small KB limits.

  4. 4

    Check and download

Open the file once to confirm it is readable, then upload compressed-document.pdf on the portal.

Why online forms reject PDFs

  • File too large

Most portals cap PDFs at 100 KB to 2 MB. Phone scans are often 3โ€“10 MB because every page is a full-size photo.

  • Password or edit lock

Portals cannot open protected PDFs. Print the file to a new PDF without a password before compressing.

  • Unreadable after compression

Very low resolution makes stamps, roll numbers and signatures blurry. Officials can reject documents they cannot read.

  • Wrong file type

Some forms want JPG for photos and PDF for documents. Do not rename a JPG to .pdf, convert it properly.

  • Embedded fonts and extras

Typed PDFs can carry heavy fonts, hidden layers and metadata. Standard compression removes the extras.

Which resolution (DPI) should you choose?

High compression picks the DPI for you, starting at 150 and stepping down only as far as your size limit needs. Use this table to choose a realistic limit for your document.

150 DPIClear text, stamps and signaturesCertificates, degree, caste/income certificate (500 KB โ€“ 1 MB)

PDF compression questions

How do I compress a PDF to under 100 KB?

Upload the PDF, choose Max 100 KB and High compression, then press Compress PDF. For scanned marksheets also turn on Black & white. If it still does not fit, remove blank or extra pages and try again.

Will compressing the PDF reduce quality?

Standard compression does not change how pages look. High compression turns each page into an optimised image, so it can soften very small text. The tool always tries the best quality that fits your size limit first.

What is the difference between Standard and High compression?

Standard removes hidden data and re-saves the PDF efficiently, keeping text selectable. It works best for typed documents. High compression re-draws every page as a compressed image and works for scanned documents that need small KB limits.

Why do online application forms reject my PDF?

Usually because it is above the size limit, password protected, not readable, or not a real PDF. Compress it to the limit shown on the form, remove any password and check the file opens before uploading.

Is it safe to compress my marksheet or certificate here?

Yes. The PDF is processed inside your browser on your own device. It is never uploaded to ResultMonkey or any other server.

Can I compress a PDF on my mobile phone?

Yes. The compressor works in Chrome, Safari and other modern mobile browsers. For long PDFs on older phones, compress up to about 20 pages at a time.

Is there a page limit?

High compression works on up to 60 pages at a time so the browser does not run out of memory. Split bigger PDFs into parts first.
