How to resize photo to 20KB–50KB for online forms

    Choose the SSC, UPSC, IBPS, Railway or State PSC preset. If your notice has a different size, choose Custom and type the pixels and KB.

    Use a recent passport-style photo on a light background, or sign in black/blue ink on plain white paper and click it in good light.

Photo rejected? Common reasons and answers

Why does the form say my photo size is invalid?

Most portals check three things: file type (JPG/JPEG), dimensions in pixels and file size in KB. If any one is outside the range, the upload fails. Pick the preset for your exam here and the output matches all three.

How do I reduce a photo to 20 KB – 50 KB without losing quality?

Resize to the exact pixel size first, then compress. This tool does both and searches for the highest JPEG quality that still stays under the maximum KB, so the photo stays as sharp as the limit allows.

My signature is only 6 KB but the form needs 10 KB – 20 KB. What now?

Small signatures often compress below the minimum. The tool adds invisible filler data inside the JPG to reach the minimum KB. The picture does not change and portals accept it because the file is still a normal JPG.

What are the common reasons a photo gets rejected after submission?

Blurry or old photo, selfie angle, cap or dark glasses, face too small, heavy shadow or dark background, photo of a photo, and a signature written in capital letters or with a ball-pen that is too faint. Many exams also reject a different photo on the admit card day, so keep a printed copy of the same photo.

Is it safe to resize my documents here?

Do I need to add my name and date on the photo?

Only if your notice asks for it. Some exams such as defence and a few state forms want the candidate name and the date the photo was taken printed below the face. Turn on Add Name & Date for those.

SSC asks for a live photo. Can I still use this tool?

Many SSC applications now capture a live photo through the SSC portal or app, so an uploaded photo is not used there. You can still use the SSC Signature preset, and the photo preset for exams that ask you to upload a photo.

They match commonly used notice sizes, last checked in October 2026. Exam bodies sometimes change sizes, so always confirm with your official notification and use Custom when it differs.
