Share

What will students learn?

The activity-based module introduces students to artificial intelligence and computational thinking. It explains how machines learn from examples and shows where AI is used in everyday life.

Lessons also cover deepfake detection, misinformation, fairness, digital safety and the need to verify information created by AI tools. The module is designed for learners who have no prior knowledge of AI.

Why is this module important?

NCERT says the course will help students understand how AI works, along with its possible uses and limitations. It aims to develop critical thinking, creativity and problem-solving instead of encouraging students to accept AI outputs without checking them.

The content gives special attention to data privacy and safe, ethical use of technology. It also reinforces that human judgement, creativity and ethical responsibility remain important in learning.

How will schools use it?

The module uses discussions, practical exercises, experimentation and reflection. Activities can be completed with or without digital devices, so schools can adapt them to different classroom settings.

NCERT developed the material after consulting IIT Madras and IIT Jodhpur. Teachers can use the activities to help students become informed, confident and responsible users and evaluators of AI systems.

What you should do now

  1. Ask your school or teacher how the NCERT module will be used in class.
  2. Review the lessons on deepfakes, misinformation and checking AI-generated information.
  3. Pay attention to the sections on data privacy, fairness and digital safety.
  4. Take part in the discussions, practical exercises and reflection activities.
  5. Do not rely on AI answers without applying human judgement and verification.
