UPSSSC PET 2026: Candidates report centres 500 km from home
UPSSSC PET candidates have reported travelling 300 to 500 km to reach their allotted centres. Check your centre early, plan travel and account for extra expenses before the exam.
What candidates have reported
Candidates appearing for the Uttar Pradesh Subordinate Services Selection Commission Preliminary Eligibility Test have described long journeys, overcrowded trains and high travel costs. Some said they had to sleep on railway station floors because hotels and lodges were too expensive.
Aspirants who reached Bareilly said their centres were 300 to 500 km from their homes. Candidates from places including Barabanki, Azamgarh, Gorakhpur, Hardoi, Sultanpur, Delhi, Ayodhya and Rae Bareli spoke about physical exhaustion, financial pressure and the effect on their preparation.
Why the centre distance matters
Several candidates said travel for recruitment tests can become difficult for poor and middle-class families. One candidate from Azamgarh said he had previously missed a Railway Junior Engineer examination after receiving an examination centre in Agra, nearly 500 km from his home.
Candidates also questioned whether special train arrangements had reduced the travel problem. They said trains remained crowded, while some people travelling on general tickets struggled to find space in sleeper and AC coaches.
What the Bareilly administration said
The Bareilly administration said arrangements were in place for the peaceful and fair conduct of the test. Nodal officer and Additional District Magistrate (City) Avinash Tripathi said 62,024 candidates were registered at 23 examination centres in Bareilly.
The administration said security measures had been prepared at all examination centres. The stated aim is to conduct the examination transparently, peacefully and without malpractice.
What candidates should do
UPSSSC PET is a qualifying examination for recruitment to several Group C government posts in Uttar Pradesh. Candidates should check the allotted centre carefully and calculate the travel time before leaving.
Those travelling a long distance should plan transport and accommodation according to their budget. Candidates should also keep extra time for crowded trains and difficult local travel, as several aspirants said these problems affected their ability to reach venues comfortably.
What you should do now
- Check the examination centre location and its distance from your home.
- Plan the full journey, including travel between the railway station and the centre.
- Arrange accommodation in advance if returning home after the examination is difficult.
- Keep enough money for travel and stay expenses.
- Leave extra time because candidates have reported overcrowded trains and difficult travel conditions.
