CBSE has issued the subject-wise marks details for Class 10 Examination 2026-27. Students can check theory marks, IA marks, exam duration, subject codes and answer booklet details for the listed language subjects.
Update: CBSE has now published the subject-wise marks bifurcation circular dated November 6, 2026.
What CBSE has issued
The Central Board of Secondary Education has released a circular covering the subject-wise marks structure for the Class-X Examination 2026-27. It lists the subject code, theory exam duration, maximum marks, IA marks and answer booklet type for the language subjects included in the notice.
The subjects are Hindi Course-A, Urdu Course-A, Punjabi, Bengali, Tamil, Telugu, Sindhi, Marathi, Gujarati, Manipuri, Malayalam, Odia, Assamese, Kannada, Arabic, Tibetan, French, German, Russian, Persian, Nepali and Limboo.
What is the marks and exam pattern
The theory examination duration is 03 hours for every subject listed in the circular. Each subject has 80 maximum theory marks and 20 IA marks.
The table does not assign practical or project marks to these subjects. It also states that an external practical examiner will not be appointed and practical A/Bs will not be supplied.
Subject codes and answer booklet
Students should confirm the subject code recorded by their school. The codes include 002 for Hindi Course-A, 003 for Urdu Course-A and 025 for Limboo. The circular gives separate codes for the other language subjects as well.
The theory answer booklet type is shown as 32 pages for every subject in the list. Students should use the subject name and code in the circular when checking their school records.
What students should do now
Students taking one of these language subjects should compare their registered subject with the circular. They should confirm the spelling, subject code and marks structure with their school, especially where the subject is Limboo.
This notice explains the marks bifurcation and examination materials. It does not provide an examination date, so it should not be treated as the Class 10 date sheet.
