What has CBSE announced

The Central Board of Secondary Education has set the schedule for practical examinations, project work and internal assessment for the 2026-27 session in winter-bound schools. The schedule applies to students of Class 10 and Class 12.

Schools must complete the practical work and internal assessment within the prescribed window. The Board has also issued operating instructions for preparing candidate lists, arranging external examiners and observers, and handling the marks process.

Important dates

The practical examinations, project work and internal assessment will be held from November 9 to December 19, 2026. Students should contact their school for the subject-wise or batch-wise plan.

Schools must upload the marks during the scheduled period. CBSE has said that the marks upload must be completed by December 19, 2026, and that no extension of the schedule will be considered.

What winter-bound schools must do

Schools have to prepare the final candidate list and allow only students whose names were submitted in the online list of candidates to appear. They must also complete the internal assessment marks for all candidates within the notified schedule.

If a school has not received an external examiner or observer appointment, it must contact the relevant regional office. Class 12 practical answer books must be sent to the concerned regional office on time.

CBSE has said that practical, project and internal assessment marks carry the same importance as marks in the annual theory examinations. The marks must not be disclosed to students or other people.

What happens next

CBSE will announce the main practical examination dates after the practical examinations for winter-bound schools are completed. Students should rely on the official notice and updates shared by their school for further information.
